Airbnb community boosts Ireland’s rural economy by €123 million

Today, we launched a report highlighting the positive impact of Airbnb in rural communities across the world, including Ireland.

In the countryside of Ireland, we’ve been able to watch home sharing transform the traditional tourist season in real time. For many parts of Ireland not served by the traditional hospitality industry, home sharing is giving these communities a way to benefit more from tourism. Seasonal country or seaside homes which used to close up during the winter months are now being booked through short-term holiday rentals, helping to keep these communities vibrant throughout the year.

In Ireland, the report illustrates how Airbnb hosts outside Dublin City and County earned €22 million while generating €123 million in economic activity through guest spending.
