Dublin Home Sharing Club launches small business walk to support local enterprises

On Saturday, 8 April 2017 members of the Dublin Home Sharing Club came together to visit the best bits of Dublin on a small business tour.. Around 25 home sharers came together to walk the city and visit some of their favourite local highlights.

The event was organised and led by members of the Dublin Home Sharing Club and represented a great opportunity to strengthen ties between home sharers and small business owners in the capital. Jim Dempsey — a host and local tour guide — added to the occasion by providing a spot of history to enrich some of the locations the group visited.

Here’s where the Merchant Walk tour of Dublin local gems took hosts:

Stop One: The tour kicked off with a walk around one of Dublin’s city centre parks, St. Stephen’s Green.

Stop Two: Mansion House on Dawson Street, which has been the official residence of the Lord Mayor of Dublin for more than 300 years.

Stop Three: Hosts stopped at the Greenhouse Restaurant to learn more about Dublin’s thriving food scene.

Stop Four: The group made their way through the bustling old quarter of Castle Street and South William Street to the L Mulligan Whiskey Shop where they learned all about the rare whiskeys on display and sampled the menu.

Stop Five: Featured a walk through the Stags Head area of Dublin into the Temple Bar Food Market where hosts met Silke Cropp from Corleggy Cheese, who was recently named in the top two percent of cheesemakers in the world!

Stop Six: Hosts visited the Irish Whiskey Museum and enjoyed a tour about the social and cultural history of whiskey making in Dublin.

Stop Seven: Finally, the day finished with a stop at Probus, a wine bar where the attendees sampled local craft beers and a variety of meats and cheeses.
